The future of commercial space: Q and A with Stellar Access President Kelly Page
Commercial space activity has grabbed headlines in recent months. Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic flew passengers to the edge of space, while SpaceX, Axiom, Boeing, and other private companies continue to expand commercial use of the International Space Station, which is set to welcome paying customers in the near future.
Stellar Access is a new company leaning on more than 40 years of experience navigating the spaceflight industry to make these new and established space opportunities more accessible to you.
We spoke with our president Kelly Page to get her insights into this new commercial landscape, and where Stellar Access fits in to this ever-evolving space.
How have you seen the space industry change during your time working in aerospace?
I’ve been in the space industry for about 15 years and there have been quite a few changes in that time. For the longest time, space was only accessible by a few companies and governments and the low-Earth orbit (LEO) industry was really focused on building capabilities in space. Now, there are so many companies with facilities, vehicles and platforms in space that it is being utilized even more greatly. Even with this growth in utilization of space, just the surface of potential has been scratched. This is where we see the potential of taking the space industry to the next level.
How do you see the commercialization of the space industry changing things in the future?
The commercialization of space changes the game because it provides so many more opportunities. Commercialization drives innovation and drives new ways of approaching space travel. This is what starts the process of making space more accessible to the world. The government will continue to pave the way in pioneering and exploration and allow for the commercial industry to drive utilization outside of the government market. This means the thought of my kids traveling to space or doing business in space becomes a realistic vision of our future.

Space is so exciting to begin with. The vastness, the unknowns and the real potential to do almost anything there is what gets me giddy when talking about it. Now, to share that excitement and cool factor to others where they can envision themselves there in one way or another really brings Stellar Access to life!
